Cookie Policy
What cookies and browser storage we use on tanishaoverseas.net, why, and how you can control them.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use closely related technologies, localStorage and sessionStorage, which work in a similar way. Throughout this Policy, references to "cookies" include these technologies unless we say otherwise.
2. Categories of cookies we use
This is a first-party only website: every cookie and storage value below is set by tanishaoverseas.net itself. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or cross-site profiling cookies.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Storage | Lifetime | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
session |
Strictly necessary | Authenticates the admin login. Public visitors do not receive this cookie. | HTTP cookie (HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax) | Up to 8 hours | No |
top_cookie_consent |
Functional | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected the cookie banner so we don't re-prompt you. | localStorage | 12 months | No (records your choice) |
tp_sid |
Analytics | A randomly generated per-tab identifier so we can count distinct sessions in aggregate reports. | sessionStorage | Cleared when you close the tab | Yes |
3. Analytics in plain English
If you accept the cookie banner, we record each pageview with: the URL path, the page that referred you here, your browser type, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address. The hash lets us count unique visitors without storing your raw IP. Records are kept for up to 30 days.
If you reject the cookie banner, no pageview is recorded and no tp_sid is created.
4. How to manage cookies
4.1 Using the banner
The cookie banner appears on your first visit. You can:
- Click Accept to enable analytics.
- Click Reject to disable analytics. Only strictly necessary and functional storage will be used.
You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the footer of every page.
4.2 In your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most modern browsers also support Do Not Track (DNT); if your browser sends a DNT signal, we automatically disable analytics regardless of your banner choice.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the admin area from working, but it will not affect ordinary browsing of the public Website.
5. Legal basis
We rely on:
- Your consent (DPDP Act, Section 6) for analytics cookies, captured through the banner.
- Legitimate use (DPDP Act, Section 7) for strictly necessary and functional cookies needed to deliver the service you have requested.
6. Changes
If we change the cookies we use, we will update this Policy and re-prompt you for consent where required.
7. Contact
